Hmmm...
Will any sparring/other pet-related games be implicated in the site?

Assuming I interpreted your inquiry correctly...

There are planned contests on board the space ship where scientists can pit their feli against each other, though these aren't planned for the May release, but rather the June one.

Yes, that is what I meant, sorry for any confusion...
Oh that's cool, looking forward to it! Smile

Will there be kitten images, or are the feli born with their adult image?
Are there any plans for holidays to be created/celebrated?
About how often should we expect new markings to be released?
Any plans to have flash games?
Sorry if any of these have been answered anywhere already x)

There will be kitten images, but it may not be available until the June release. Our artists work somewhat slowly.

We don't have any plans for holidays, but if you have ideas, you're welcome to shoot them to us. We may try to plan some FF-related holidays.

New markings will be released whenever they're thought of or suggested. We will give you a mechanism to suggest markings and even draw them yourselves.

Flash games are tentatively planned along with the contest idea described to Kittennia.

I am extremely intrigued by virtual genetics. Is it at all possible that some type of gudie would be released for big geeks like me linking the programming aspect to the genetic aspect? I'm extremely interested, but I understand if things are just too crazy right now, or you don't feel comfortable disclosing such information. :)

Thanks so much for devoting so much time to this! The site is A M A Z I N G ! !

Q&A about Felisfire Empty Re: Q&A about Felisfire

I'm not entirely sure I understand it enough to write a guide, but here's a general gist:

Feli genes come in pairs, and are either A (dominant) or a (recessive).
AA are dominant homozygous.
Aa are dominant heterozygous.
aa are recessive homozygous.

That said, in any instances of breeding, it happens like this:

AA x AA = all AA
AA x Aa = AA, Aa, AA, Aa
Aa x Aa = AA, Aa, Aa, aa
Aa x aa = Aa, Aa, aa, aa
aa x AA = all Aa
aa x aa = all aa

For markings:
Recessive (aa) genes carry for one generation f. AA or Aa is needed to show the marking.
To see how markings might skip a generation, view this:

Husky (Aa), Ocelot (AA) x Husky (aa), Ocelot (AA)
Parent 1: shows husky, shows ocelot
Parent 2: carries husky, shows ocelot

= offspring Husky (aa), Ocelot (AA)
This offspring will carry a mixed coloration between parent 1's husky and parent2's husky, but will not show it

Offspring (Husky aa, Ocelot AA) x Feli (Husky Aa, Ocelot AA)

= offspring Husky Aa, Ocelot AA
This offspring will have a husky marking that resembles its grandparents' husky marking on one side, and its second parent's husky marking.

Did that make any sense?

For phenotype:
Phenotype (what your feli looks like in the image) has no impact on breeding.

For genotype:
Genotype (what species your feli's genes are coding for) has impact on breeding.

Just a little question: Does everyone get to post their pre-release designs, or just certain people like testers?

Anyone can post them. It is appreciated if the designs are uploaded to an image hosting service though.

Admin- Total sense! Very Happy Actually, heehee, I already knew the genetics aspect of it from that standpoint, but I was more interested in how you would code something to randomize and keep a record of who had which genes in what sequence, etc. Thanks very much though, refreshers are always great!

Q&A about Felisfire Empty Re: Q&A about Felisfire

Post  Lyrastrae Sat May 01, 2010 5:38 pm

Furthering our discussion about genetics... Will inbreeding/linebreeding be factored in? For example, most of our current breeds of cats have some form of inbreeding/linebreeding in their makeup. However, this has contributed to health problems, high mortality, mutations, etc. Will this be a factor in our breedings?

Will there be a string of genetics on the page? One of the games I do now, we have a genetics string that we can compare for breedings.

Will something like incomplete, co-dominance or sex-linked traits be implemented at any time?

Would we have to feed our pets and play with them to keep them happy and be able to breed?

Post  Invader Siv Sun May 02, 2010 4:31 pm

Felisfire so far seems to have a focus on not only the phenotypey aspect of breeding but also disposistions (at least from what I read about the relationships between the feli in the intro topic, please do correct me if I'm wrong!!). Do you have an idea of how far into personal traits Felisfire will go? Will this extend to the genetic aspects of health? Such as genetically inherited diseases or mutations? Sorry if this is too overwhelming a question for so early in the the game, I'm super excited about it!!! Very Happy

Co-dominance shouldn't be hard at all- we're allowed two markings per feli, are we not? Although co-dominance between colors would be...I don't even know how that would work. xD Mother nature > computer geeks. afro
